My Story

Like many women, I was diagnosed with autism spectrum condition (ASC) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) late in life – at the age of 52, to be precise. Suddenly the trajectory of my life made a whole lot of sense for the first time, and I spent the next year or two really getting to grips with what these diagnoses meant for me. I moved through a whole lot of different emotions during that time, including grief, sadness and anger, but eventually I came to a place of peace, acceptance, happiness and even celebration!

You have changed my life for the better, and I learnt so much from you during our time together. You have such a wonderful way of seeing things and approaching things from multiple perspectives, and you know how to communicate with kindness.

My Vision

My vision is for neurodiversity to be as recognised and as accepted as racial diversity and sexual diversity, and for neurodivergent people to be celebrated rather than either ignored or commiserated with for their ‘deficits’.

As well as coaching, I've been a freelance writer, editor, proofreader and book project manager for over two decades. As a result, I have a particular interest in helping neurodivergent clients to unlock their innate creativity in business and in their leisure time, and to manage their finances and/or businesses in a way that's aligned with their own particular values, needs and strengths.

I was very hesitant to try coaching… but when nothing else worked I decided to give it a try. I wish that I had started sooner. Talking to someone, a fellow neurodivergent, who just gets it, is SO powerful!

I found the PowerTypes a revelation – you don’t have to battle through life the ‘hard way’! There are alternatives that feel more natural, that helped me feel more at ease and in flow and to move away from burnout. Amanda’s personalised, tailored guidance on how best to use these to support me with my particular autism and ADHD challenges was invaluable.
