Uncertainty to Confidence

At Outside the Box: Neurodiverse Coaching and Mentoring®, we believe that neurodivergent people deserve support that is understanding, respectful and genuinely neuro-affirming — and that practitioners deserve training that goes beyond stereotypes and surface-level awareness.

Our training is designed to help coaches, mentors, therapists, support workers, educators, health practitioners and other professionals better understand the lived experience of neurodivergent adults and develop practical, compassionate ways to support them.

Whether you’re completely new to neurodiversity, are neurodivergent yourself, or already work with neurodivergent clients and want to deepen your knowledge, you are warmly welcome here.

Recognising and Working Effectively with Neurodivergent Clients: A Practical ‘How To’ Course

Created and delivered by me, this FHT-accredited four-module training course was commissioned by The Chrysalis Effect, and was designed to help coaches, therapists, practitioners and wellbeing professionals feel more confident in recognising and supporting neurodivergent adults.

Many professionals receive little or no formal training around adult ADHD, autism or neurodivergence — particularly when it comes to how neurodivergence can present differently in adults, women, people with chronic illness, or those who have spent years masking their difficulties.

This course was created to help bridge that gap in a compassionate, practical and neuro-affirming way.

The training combines:

  • professional knowledge
  • lived experience
  • real-world case studies
  • practical coaching considerations
  • scripts and conversations
  • adaptable support strategies.

It was specifically designed to help practitioners move beyond stereotypes and develop a deeper understanding of what neurodivergence can actually look and feel like in day-to-day life.

From Fraught to Focused® and the OTB Associate Pathway

From Fraught to Focused® (FF2F) is my signature coaching and coping strategy training programme for adults diagnosed with ADHD or AuDHD (autism + ADHD) later in life. It is designed to help clients from overwhelm, confusion and self-doubt to greater clarity, self-understanding and confidence. Many FF2F clients are funded by the UK Government's Access to Work (A2W) initiative.

For several years now, several OTB associate coaches and trainers have helped me to deliver FF2F to A2W clients. From May 2026, we now have a formal training and licensing route called the OTB Associate Pathway.

The OTB Associate Pathway has been created for practitioners who would like to deepen their understanding of neurodivergent adults while also becoming part of the wider Outside the Box community and ethos.

The pathway combines training, mentoring, reflection and practical application, helping practitioners build confidence in supporting neurodivergent clients ethically, compassionately and effectively.

Depending on the route chosen, the pathway may include:

  • The From Fraught to Focused® programme
  • Practitioner training and learning materials
  • Group learning sessions
  • 1:1 mentoring support
  • Access to the OTB community
  • Opportunities for ongoing development and collaboration.

The pathway is designed to meet people where they are — whether they are beginning their neurodiversity learning journey or already have significant experience and want to refine and deepen their practice.

A Different Kind of Training Experience

Many coaches and other practitioners tell us that they come to Outside the Box looking not only for knowledge, but for a more human, compassionate and genuinely neuro-affirming way of working.

Our training spaces are designed to be supportive rather than intimidating, collaborative rather than hierarchical, and practical rather than overly clinical. We understand that many practitioners are neurodivergent themselves, and we aim to create learning experiences that are accessible, flexible and welcoming. Because when practitioners feel supported too, everybody benefits.

  • This course has really helped me to understand and gain an awareness in neurodivergence. AJ is an excellent teacher and brings empathy and humour to the teachings. I feel really equipped now to support clients who are neurodivergent, or who may have neurodivergent traits, effectively and appropriately.

  • I found the Recognising and Working Effectively With Neurodivergent Clients course to be fascinating, extremely informative and it will be a huge benefit to my family as well as my practice as a Nutritional Therapist. AJ is a great speaker with a wealth of knowledge and personal experience, and I highly recommend the course to anyone with an interest in this area and/or who supports clients on their journeys to better health.
